Saturday, November 2, see Kurt Vile perform with his backing band, The Violators, as well as lofi indie pop band, Beach Fossils, in a grand night full of fuzz at Orlando’s coolest venue, The Social.
These are some of the biggest and critically acclaimed lofi bands to emerge out of the last decade of music, bringing stylistic pop into indie rock territory with hints of psychedelic.
Kurt Vile is a heavily acclaimed musician who performs live with his backing band, The Violators. His fourth album, Smoke Ring for My Halo, garnered major attention, with publications like Mojo placing the album at #12 on its “Top 50 albums of 2011” list, Uncut pacing it at #14, and Pitchfork ranking the album as #16. His latest album, Wakin’ on a Pretty Daze, was described by Pitchfork’s Jayson Green as “Vile’s most spacious, becalmed record yet, and it contains some of his best-ever brand of cosmic stand-up…feels like the culmination of Vile’s quest to get away from people, noises, civilization and find somewhere to sit and whistle his own tune.”
