Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Gets Social

Back in 2005, MP3 bloggers fueled the success of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah when they introduced audiences to Alex Ounsworth and “The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth,” a gem showcasing his distinct twang and quirky guitar work. The last time he visited Orlando, CYHSY had already devolved into a solo project, playing shows in living rooms and coffee houses on an intimate international tour.

While most bands would flounder if left with only one member, CYHSY has taken the opportunity to get back to its roots. The opening track from the band’s (is it still called a band with only one member?) newest album, The Tourist, proves Mr. Ounsworth is a creative tour de force, especially when paired with super-producer Dave Fridmann.

Opening for CYHSY will be the enchanting Laura Gibson, whose warm and poetic indie tunes earned her the debut spot on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series. Doors start at 8PM and as always, you can pick up tickets at The Social/Beacham box office daily during showtimes or at Park Ave CDs.
