Mayer Hawthorne and The County @ The Social on October 4th!
Peter Baldwin Opens for Mayer Hawthorne and The Country – Orlando’s Alternative Soul Phenom Opens for Detroit’s Soul Sensation –
October 4, 2010 – Peter Baldwin opens for International Soul artist, Mayer Hawthorne and The County at The Social. Located in Downtown, Orlando at 54 N. Orange Avenue, The Social features national and local bands playing alternative and indie music. This show is open to 18 and up. Doors open at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased on-line. A Detroit native, Mayer Hawthorne grew up listening to the area’s jazz and soul legends. Influenced, by Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson, Mike Terry, and Barry White, Hawthorne draws the most inspiration from the music of Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, and the songwriting and production trio of Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland Jr. As a producer and multi-versed instrumentalist for much of his life, Hawthorne never intended to become a singer. However, this “new school soul sensation” has taken the Motown production model and emphasized the finer elements, songwriting and authentic expressionism.
Peter Baldwin finds himself in good company this Monday, playing along side funk-psychedelic Gordon Voidwell and soul-seducer Mayer Hawthorne. Having previously opened for Joss Stone, K’naan, Mayer Hawthorne and Theophilus London, Monday’s performance will mark Peter Baldwin’s second opening for the critically acclaimed Hawthorne. Baldwin’s charisma, vocal ability, and vivid lyricism proves why the “alternative soul” phenom continues to excite fans and fellow musicians, alike.
