(CBS) What do Jessica Simpson, Angelina Jolie and “Top Chef” exotic beauty Padma Lakshmi have in common?

They’re all fans of singer-songwriter and pianist Matt White.

So who is this lucky guy Hollywood beauties have taken a liking to?

White burst onto the music scene in 2007 with the well-received album, “Best Days,” but he’s generated lots of buzz in the alternative pop world with the release of his sophomore album, “It’s The Good Crazy.”

Whether it’s the good kind of crazy or bad — there’s no disputing that fans are mad over White’s piano skills.

Having toured and shared the stage with the likes of B.B. King, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer and Counting Crows, White has an energetic stage presence — not to mention that he dons flamboyant stage attire and bring life to his piano keys.

White stopped by “The Early Show on Saturday Morning”‘s “Second Cup Cafe” to perform his new single, “Falling in Love” (With My Best Friend),” along with “When I Fall.”

On “It’s The Good Crazy,” he revisits his piano roots and embraces a more raw, unscripted approach to recording. He steered away from modern studio trends and decided to record the entire album on analog tape, making room for mistakes and authenticity.

White also chose an interesting venue to record “It’s The Good Crazy.”

For a good portion of the album, he ventured out to a church in Woodstock, N.Y. to record on the same board used to record the wildly successful “Led Zeppelin II.” It might be one of the last 3M tape machines left in existence.

The Englewood, N.J. native, who was always drawn to neighboring New York City, became interested in classical music at a very young age and took up piano lessons when he was just three years old!

White’s music has been featured in numerous films, TV shows and commercials including “What Happens In Vegas,” “Shrek The Third,” McDonald’s, “The Hills,” “Brothers and Sisters” and “One Tree Hill.”
